REVIEW: Sobrenadar - 1859

8.25 out of 10

One day while shuffling through Bandcamp's Dream Pop section I came across Sobrenadar, obsession at first listen. Fast forward a couple EPs and we have Sobrenadar's "debut" LP '1859', in-which Paula Garcia continues to weave the most exquisite & beautiful Modern Dream Pop out there. No seriously, check out the rest of Paula's astonishing work.

Armed with a synthesizer, acoustic guitar, as well as lots of pedals/various distortions, a few serene samples as well as gorgeous piano melodies/twinkles, and of course Ms. Garcia's haunting voice. '1859' is so perfect and warm. From beginning to end all this album can do for you is put you in a spell, a magical and engaging awesome spell. I can only imagine it being a small matter of time before more and more people discover Sobrenadar, this is what music lovers with good taste and a good ear live for;]

If Hooverphonic mated with Slowdive and attempted "Chill Wave"/Modern Dream Pop, it might sound similar to this. HIGHly Recommended.

Standout Tracks: Junio, Los Tres Dias, Sirio, Mitad Cósmica I (this one), Blueu (..and this one too!), El Niño de Marte (sound like Cocteau Twins a bit..)
