REVIEW: Bachelorette - My Electric Family

8.25 out of 10

"My Electric Family" is New Zealand based Annabel Alper's (Bachelorette) second official album and can honestly be defined by one word .."Pleasurable."

On "Instructions For Insomniacs", track 1 of "My Electric Family", you are pushed full fledge right into the sheer catchiness that is about to come your way. The first couple of tracks are like a "more experimental" Shins or less abrasive Animal Collective. Towards the middle of the album Bachelorette goes from cutesy Electro Pop, reminiscent of Ms John Soda, to the laid back "Beach Boys-esque" vibes ala Simian, to the elevator music stylings of Stereolab. The end result is a perfect pop album that, although it might, should not be neglected. If Agreeable/poppy & soothing female vocals distorted, echoed & pitch shifted over harmonious production magic, upbeat drumming, lo-fi keyboard sounds, dainty bleeps and bloops, minimal "folksy" accents, and terrific guitar riffs are your thing DO NOT PASS THIS ALBUM UP..

"My Electric Family" is extraordinary from starting note to end bleep. It really is hard to pick any real downsides to the album, it's just a truly pleasurable experience from beginning to end. I'm officially hooked. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Standout Tracks: Instructions For Insomniacs, The National Grid, Technology Boy (my favorite track), Dream Sequence, Long Time Gone
