REVIEW: Error - Error

7 out of 10
Like almost every band trying to convey a dark and spooky image, this five track EP's opener begins with a synth-droney buffet sprinkled with glitchy moans (insert "ya, who doesn't" here). None-the-less a fun way to open this explosive industrial punk metal project consisting of Bad Religion founder and fellow Epitaph guru Brett Gurewitz, ex-Tapeworm/Nine Inch Nails contributor Atticus Ross, his brother Leopold, and Dillinger Escape Plan vocalist Greg Puciato released on Epitaph in 2004. The macabre intro is short lived before erupting into a full throttle ball of up-tempo fury consisting of deep synth bass lines, a choppy & distorted yet crusty as hell drum and bass backbone, an all too familiar "NINish" guitar hook and vocals that will easily provide the perfect soundtrack to your worst possible nightmare.

"Homicide", the EP's second track kicks it up a notch. This one is my personal favorite. What ties it all together for me with this song is the apocalyptic choir during the chorus over the blood curdling vocals. On track three, "Burn In Hell", they give their already well established niche a reggae-esque feel to it. Track four, "Jack The Ripper", is slightly more tame but at the same time, a little tighter and very catchy song. The album closes with a four minute, bloody as hell, free-for-all called "Brains Out".

Every song on this EP is kind of all over the place, all the while staying parallel within it's own intentions and always holding true with their corresponding chord progressions (that's the 'tightness' I'm refering to). Error is extremely consistent in their sound, execution and delivery. EASILY one of the most over-played EP's I own. Buy this NOW, if you're into Industrial-Punk music.

Standout Tracks: Homicide, Burn In Hell
